Summer may be winding to a close, but pollinators across the Southeast are still buzzing from plant to plant.

To learn more about these insects and their behavior, the University of Georgia Extension will facilitate the 6th annual Great Southeast Pollinator Census on August 23rd to 24th, and they’re inviting citizen scientists to participate.

WUGA’s Martin Matheny spoke to Becky Griffin, the project’s coordinator and the Pollinator Health Associate at the UGA Extension, about the initiative.

Martin Matheny is WUGA's Program Director and a host and producer of our local news program 'Athens News Matters.' He started at WUGA in 2012 as a part-time classical music host and still hosts WUGA's longest-running local program 'Night Music' which is heard on WUGA and GPB Classical. He lives in Normaltown with his wife, Shaye and dog, Murphy.
