Georgia Receives $7.5 million grant for Weatherization Assistance Program

The state of Georgia received a grant for $7.5 million this week to help low-income families by providing clean energy technology.

On Wednesday, the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority was awarded $7.5 million in Sustainable Energy Resources for Consumers grants for the Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program.

This program will evaluate home conditions and recommend heating, cooling, and ventilation upgrades. Heat pumps, energy recovery ventilation, dehumidifiers, and relevant energy monitoring devices will be installed in homes as a part of the program.

The DOE says this project will help disadvantaged communities by reducing energy burdens for low-income families, also supporting clean energy jobs.
