Georgia saw an increase in its net tax collections for the month of August compared to last year.
According the office of Governor Brian Kemp, the state’s net tax collection for August totaled over $2 billion, an increase of $54 million from last year.
Since the beginning of the fiscal year in July, the state has collected nearly $5 billion in taxes. That’s an increase in the total number of dollars collected compared to the first two months of the last fiscal year.
The total amount of individual income tax collected so far has declined compared to last year by over $114 million, for a total of a little over $1 billion. On the other hand, corporate income tax totaled about $44 million.
