Last week, it was announced that Usha Rodrigues will become the next dean for University of Georgia School of Law. She will start this position beginning on Jan. 1, 2025, when Peter Rutledge steps down as dean after 10 years of service.

Rodrigues currently serves at UGA as the associate dean for faculty development. As associate dean for faculty development she leads the School of Law’s promotion and tenure unit and supports faculty scholarships.

A nationwide search was conducted by a 13-member search advisory committee to help find finalists for the position. Rodrigues has been a faculty member since 2005 at UGA and served as UGA’s interim vice provost for academic affairs from 2022 to 2023.

“The UGA School of Law is widely recognized for excellence, and I know that Usha will help the school chart a path toward even greater heights in the years to come,” said S. Jack Hu, the university’s senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.
