Statewide Nonprofit for Accessible Transportation Awarded Grant

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Awards Grant to Georgia Nonprofit as part of its initiative to increase road safety.
The nonprofit ‘Go Georgia’ formerly known as ‘Georgia Bikes', has been awarded over $150,000 by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.

‘Go Georgia’ is a statewide advocacy organization that promotes safe, equitable, and sustainable transportation. Founded in 2003, the organization started out with a mission to promote and improve infrastructure for cyclists. Working alongside transportation planners and community advocates, they were able to make Georgia a more bike friendly state. They have since expanded their mission to include all forms of active transportation and recreation, placing an emphasis on accessibility for all.

The grant money will be used to fund the nonprofit’s educational programs which include bicycle safety classes for pedestrians of all ages, and state-certified law enforcement training.

Executive director John Devine, expressed how important this grant is saying they’ve “been able to teach more Georgians how to get around their communities safely,
whether they bike, walk, or drive.”
