Athens-Clarke County residents are being asked to weigh in on the county’s transit plan. The Transit Department is holding a public open house on Wednesday. The three-hour drop-in meeting is scheduled from 3 pm to 6 pm at the ACC Multimodal Center on East Broad Street. Randy Brown is Assistant Director Public of Transportation. He explains what attendees can expect.
“There will be a team of staff there with the plan being presented,” Brown said. “We’re there for assistance for collecting your feedback, for answering any questions you may have, and for sharing how excited we are about the future of public transit in Athens.”
The five-year plan identifies local transportation priorities to decide on operating changes, capital improvements, and investments necessary to continue updating transit needs.
“I am hopeful that other folks in our community, that are engaged and connected with this public process, see the value in the service that we offer to the community, take the time to engage with the plan and review it and take some time to offer your support, your critique, your awareness of it,” according to Brown.
ACC commissioners are expected to adopt the plan at their April 1st commission meeting. Athens Transit is an underwriter with WUGA.
