Clarke County schools see positive gains in climate ratings

Barnett Shoals Elementary School

The Clarke County School District continues to improve in school climate ratings, according to new data from the Georgia Department of Education. The district has seen significant progress in school safety, student and family engagement, and overall perception of the learning environment.

The Georgia School Climate Star Rating system evaluates schools on safety, relationships, and conditions supporting student success, assigning scores from 1 to 5 stars. For the 2023-24 school year, four CCSD schools earned the top 5-star rating: Fowler Drive Elementary (99.2), Timothy Road Elementary (98.2), J.J. Harris Elementary (98.1), and Whitehead Road Elementary (98.0).

Seven other schools earned 4-star ratings, while most others were rated 3 stars or higher. “We are encouraged by these results,” said Superintendent Dr. Robbie Hooker. “We remain committed to creating safe and supportive learning environments for all students.”

You can access information on individual school climate ratings from the GaDOE CCRPI reports dashboard here.
