Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School (OAES) is hosting an event to inform parents of potential opportunities for their children.

Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School is inviting parents to the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) interest meeting on Tuesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. in the OAES cafeteria. Students will have the chance to receive daily instruction in English and Spanish.

Zoned students can continue the DLI instruction in grades 6-8 at Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School. If students continue the program, they can earn high school credits in Spanish I and II, take Advanced Placement Spanish, or take college level Spanish courses.

Research from Georgia State University reveals benefits from DLI programs include second language skills, problem-solving skills, performing well on standardized tests, and more.

To join the DLI program students must be enrolled in Clarke County School District and live within the OAES attendance zone. Applications must be submitted for consideration by May 15 of the academic year prior to a student beginning pre-K or kindergarten at OAES.
