Barrow County Sheriff's Office investigating paraglider crash

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office is investigating a paragliding crash at the county airport.

According to a release from the sheriff's office, shortly after 1 pm on Thursday, September 11, deputies responded to the scene at 841 Ronald Wood Road and located an adult male who had been operating a paraglider. He was breathing but not responsive or alert. He was taken to the hospital or further evaluation and treatment.

The Sheriff’s office notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which will be investigating the incident.

Barrow Sheriff Jud Smith thanked the caller who reported the crash. He said that swift action resulted in rapid action from first responders.

“Their attentiveness played an important role in getting help to the injured individual as quickly as possible,” according to Sheriff Smith.
