The single paragraph, Board Policy GAC, describes CCSD’s commitment to involving staff, parents and community members in the decision–making process.
Those in favor of the policy, like District 5 Member Tim Denson, saw its idealism as a strength. “If we believe it’s aspirational yet we agree with the language, then the problem is we’re not doing enough to aspire to what these words say,” he said.
Opposing members felt the policy was redundant, saying CCSD already has trustworthy leadership. They worried the policy could be weaponized against them.
A motion to rescind the policy failed. The meeting ended with a majority vote to remove the item from that night’s agenda and send the policy to the district for further revision.
