African Perspectives for February 28, 2021

This final episode in February rounds up our month-long commemoration of Black History month (BHM), the celebration of the achievements and survival of Africans in America.

The episode focuses on the commemoration of sixty years of desegregation of the University of Georgia, including highlighting the website dedicated to the anniversary, www.desegregation.uga.edu.

Some of the information on the website shared on the episode included scheduled events and list of achievements and milestones in the push for full integration at the University. The episode also features a conversation with Dr. Michelle Garfield Cook, UGA’s Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion and Strategic University Initiatives, and co-chair of the committee for the 60 years anniversary of desegregation of the University of Georgia.

As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected tunes from the collections, Africa: Colors of the World and Panthers: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
