African Perspectives for November 8, 2020

This second episode in November continues the extended commemoration of twenty-four years of the show on Athens Public Radio station, WUGA. The episode features our plans for muted celebrations of the anniversary with music specials and fortnight African music CD giveaways. We will celebrate over the next two months or so by offering some of the music played in the first few months of our show. The focus on this episode was on music from the wonderful series Africa Fete that grew out of a music festival with the same name that was founded in France by the late Mamadou Konte, a Senegalese music producer and activist. Both the Africa Fete festival and series, by highlighting both established and up-and-coming African musical artists, have been credited for popularizing African music in France and all over the World As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected music from two of the Africa Fete series: Africa Fete and Africa Fete 98.
