From the Bible to Dickens, Dr. Seuss to the Hallmark Channel, Christmas has countless stories. But for some musicians, the most powerful is the first. Pastores quidnam vidistis, or Shepherds, what have you seen?, is a motet by Renaissance composer Jacobus Clemens non Papa.
The singers are The Tallis Scholars, an English group that is the gold standard of classical a cappella ensembles. On Sunday, December 10 at 7 p.m. at Hodgson Concert Hall, they'll perform a program of music largely from the perspective of the shepherds who were the first to receive word of Christ's birth.
