Takács Quartet and Marc-André Hamelin

Shall we dance? Next up at Hodgson Concert Hall on Sunday, March 24, the celebrated Takács Quartet and Marc-André Hamelin, one of the most accomplished pianists of his generation. They'll perform the Piano Quintet No. 2 by Czech composer Antonin Dvorak. He had a keen interest in Black American music, and within a few decades after his death, one Black American woman, Florence Price, was writing music like her Piano Quintet. She used traditional African American forms in her works, making her not all that different from Dvořák, who drew on the rich vein of Czech folk music. At Hodgson, the quartet and Hamelin will also play Price's quintet — and the quartet will open with Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade. For tickets to the Takács Quartet and Marc-André Hamelin, visit PAC.UGA.EDU or call the box office at (706) 542-4400.
