Kemp testifies before grand jury Tuesday morning

Governor Brian Kemp testified this morning before a special grand jury investigating possible interference in Georgia’s 2020 elections.

Kemp, who won re-election last week, is a central witness to the investigation launched by District Attorney Fani Willis in February 2021. Following the 2020 election, Kemp was allegedly pressured by Trump White House Officials to illegally convene a special session of the state legislature to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia.

The Fulton County prosecutors have mentioned that they are interested in questioning Kemp about the identities of the Trump associates who contacted him, and the contents of the conversations he had with them.

Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney, who is overseeing the grand jury, made note in August that Kemp is facing no accusations of criminal activity as part of the investigation.
