UGA to receive $12 million in research funding

Four University of Georgia programs will receive federal support totaling $12 million from the $1.7 trillion funding package signed into law late last month.

This funding includes $5 million for the Expanding Engineering with Nature Installation Capacity program to help researchers develop and deploy new methods to protect Department of Defense facilities from weather extremes, $4 million for the Enhancing Georgia’s Poultry Science Workforce through Education for scholarships and advanced scientific equipment, and $3 million towards the Innovation, and Collaboration program, and the Connected Resilient Communities program to leverage university resources for community and economic opportunity and well-being.

There was an additional $100,000 project supporting UGA’s Small Business Development Center’s training programs for rural communities to improve e-commerce and digital marketing for small businesses.

UGA President Jere Morehead thanked Senators Jon Ossoff and Rev Raphael Warnock, and Representatives Buddy Carter, David Scott, and Lucy McBath for the support.
