The new season at the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center begins with a concert by Nickel Creek. The Grammy-winning bluegrass trio of mandolinist Chris Thile, fiddler Sara Watkins and guitarist Sean Watkins has been playing and singing together since they were children north of San Diego. Each has a thriving solo career, and when they come together, melodies and harmonies go to unexpected places.
Nickel Creek is touring behind Celebrants, their first album of new material in nine years. NPR Music says, "The trio sounds and plays better than ever." Nickel Creek's Hodgson Concert Hall performance Friday, September 8th begins the UGA Presents season stuffed with Americana music, Celtic music, classical music, jazz and dance.
