UGA Small Business Development Center Secures $6 Million for Statewide Support

The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (UGA SBDC) provides tools, training and resources to help small businesses grow and succeed. Designated as one of Georgia’s top providers of small business assistance, the UGA SBDC has 19 offices ranging from Rome to Valdosta to serve the needs Georgia’s business community. Since 1977, our network of partners has helped construct a statewide ecosystem to foster the spirit, support and success of hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs and innovators. The UGA SBDC, a Public Service and Outreach unit of the University of Georgia, is funded in part by the U.S Small Business Administration. UGA SBDC is nationally accredited by the Association of SBDCs.

The University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center has received over six million dollars in federal grant funds from the US Department of Treasury, which it will dedicate to statewide programming.

Business advisors from the UGA SBDC will work in partnership with UGA’s College of Family and Consumer Sciences Extension to assist small enterprises around the state who face obstacles to attaining capital. Over the past five years, the center has helped its clients access over a billion dollars of funding. The latest federal money will fund SBDC representatives as they instruct business owners on the details of financial institutions, requirements for loan applications, and legal considerations.
