The University of Georgia has been awarded the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award for the 11th consecutive year. Presented by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the award acknowledges UGA's initiatives supporting first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students, as well as veterans.
In addition to the HEED Award, several UGA programs received 2024 Inspiring Programs in STEM Awards, which focus on recruiting and retaining women and underrepresented students in science and technology fields. Notable initiatives include the College of Veterinary Medicine's Ready.Vet.Go. program for middle school students and the College of Pharmacy's comprehensive recruitment efforts.
“The University of Georgia is honored to receive the HEED Award once again,” said President Jere W. Morehead. “The fact that our institution has been recognized for 11 consecutive years demonstrates our steadfast commitment to creating a welcoming environment where all students have an opportunity to succeed at the highest levels.”
