This week we say goodbye to WUGA’s Senior Content Producer, Emma Auer.

Emma has been an integral part of WUGA’s news team, connecting our community to the news that matters. She started as a student intern at WUGA, and grew into an award-winning journalist. In her relatively short tenure here, she has won two awards from the Public Media Journalists Association, three GABBY Awards and most recently, a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award. Last year, she was named a Rising Star by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.

Now, she’s moving on in a new direction. WUGA’s Havivah Saltz sat down with Emma for some final reflections on her time with the station. Here’s that conversation.

This was Emma's last episode of Athens News Matters. Her unfailing dedication and persistent curiosity will be deeply missed.

Havivah Saltz has been with WUGA since 2023 as an on-air host and the producer for African Perspectives. She got her start in radio on WOBC FM at Oberlin College (class of ‘23), and she’s also an on-air host on Athens' Power 100.1 and Magic 102.1. Outside of work, you can find Havivah making art, writing fiction, practicing Japanese, petting her very round cat, and watching concerning amounts of TV.
