Athens News Matters: Cedar Shoals Student Journalists Break BOE Story

Last week, a group of reporters broke the news that newly-appointed Board of Education member Antwon Stephens did not graduate from Cedar Shoals High School, as he implied. That story wasn’t broken by WUGA, The Athens Banner-Herald, or Flagpole Magazine. Those reporters were all student journalists at Cedar Shoals High School. Student journalists Jackie Wright and Stephanie Gaona-Perez join Alexia Ridley to talk about breaking the story.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
