State officials are coming to Athens next week to help fill hundreds of jobs in the area. The Georgia Department of Labor is helping Amazon recruit 700 to 1,000 warehouse workers for its new distribution center in Jackson County. Career Centers in Athens and Gainesville will host the events, which are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, June 12th and 13th from 9 am to 4 pm at both locations.
Amazon representatives will be on-site at both locations to discuss employment opportunities and explain the hiring process. Applicants must at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, or GED. They must also be able to work four, 10-hour shifts per shifts per week and climb at least 45 feet.
