Barrow County Raid Leads to Million-Dollar Drug Seizure

Barrow County Sheriff's Office

Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies and federal agents raided a Bethlehem house and seized 45 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and $250,000 in cash. The raid happened five days ago, but authorities made the announcement Monday.

Catarino Lopez, Sergio Lopez, Arturo Lopez-Torres, Jhonnathan Ulivi Vergara, and Julio Moreno-Nieto were arrested on Wednesday, June 14.  The Barrow Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit received a tip that liquid methamphetamine had been transported from Mexico to the home to be converted to crystal meth. Barrow authorities contacted the DEA Clandestine Lab Team, which specializes in the safe dismantling of drug labs.

The crystal meth has a street value of $1,000,000. Investigators also found three firearms, marijuana, and cocaine.
