Lawsuit Seeks to Void 6th District Election Results

A government watchdog group and six Georgia voters recently filed a lawsuit against Georgia’s electronic voting system. The lawsuit was filed on Monday in Fulton County Superior Court by Coalition for Good Governance, a Colorado based group, and Georgia voters who are members of that group. The organization believes that the voting system in Georgia has many issues involving security The suit refers to the work of Logan Lamb, a private cybersecurity researcher, who discovered last August that a misconfigured server had left Georgia’s 6.7 million voter records and other sensitive files exposed to hackers. The lawsuit goes on to mention that the same records were accessed a second time by another security researcher.

One of the main requests in the lawsuit is to overturn the results of the 6th District election and that a new election be held. The group also calls for a thorough check of the current voting system before further use of it. This is not the first time the Coalition for Good Governance has taken issue with the Georgia voting system. Back in June, the same group filed a lawsuit requesting that the 6th District runoff be conducted with paper ballots. However, this suit was dismissed by a Fulton County judge.
