Actor William Hurt could testify in a civil trial of a railroad owner accused of negligence in the death of a crew member struck by a train while filming a movie about singer Gregg Allman.
Hurt was to play the part of Allman in the since-canceled movie. He was at the courthouse in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday, but it wasn't clear if or when he would take the stand.

Camera assistant Sarah Jones was killed in 2014 as filming began outside of Jessup, Georgia, on "Midnight Rider," a movie based on the life of Allman. Allman died in May.
Jones' parents are suing CSX Transportation, saying it failed to take safety precautions.
CSX attorney Jay Traynham said the railroad had twice denied the filmmakers permission to access the tracks.
