State Driver Services Reminds Motorists of Georgia SUPER SPEEDER Laws

The Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and law enforcement agencies throughout the state are teaming up with their counterparts in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee in “Operation Southern Shield,” this week.  The week-long speed prevention and enforcement initiative covers interstates, major highways, and local roads in each of the states.

The state department of Driver Service or DDS, is issuing a reminder to motorists regarding Georgia’s Super Speeder Law. A super speeder is defined as a driver convicted of speeding at 75 mph or more on a two-lane road, or 85 mph and above on any road or highway in the state. A two-hundred-dollar supper speeder fee is placed on top of the fines and fees paid to the jurisdiction where the offense took place. That fee must be paid with 120 days of official notice or the driver faces suspension of his or her license or driving privileges.

Payment of a $50 reinstatement fee, in addition to the $200 Super Speeder fee, will then be required to reinstate their license or driving privileges.
