Athens Police Release Names of Men Involved in Fatal Stabbing

Joshua L. Jones, Athens Banner-Herald

Athens police have released the names of the two men involved in a deadly domestic violence incident. According to a department release, officers were called to the scene at 909 East Broad Street around 4 o’ clock on Friday afternoon. When they arrived, they found 24-year old Wesley Ford lying on the ground with a stab wound. Ford was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his wound.

Police says the suspect is Ford’s 21-year old roommate Robert Bryan. They say the men began arguing on the phone about Bryan moving out of the apartment with someone else. When Ford arrived at the apartment, a physical altercation began, during which Ford was stabbed. No arrests have been made. The incident remains under investigation and police are considering the possibility of self-defense.
