Man Not Charged in Fatal July Stabbing

Joshua L. Jones, Athens Banner-Herald

Athens Police are not filing charges against a man who they say acted in self-defense when he stabbed his roommate to death in July. A media release from the department said the 21-year old was moving out of the apartment he shared with 24-year old Wesley Ford. Ford is said to have started arguing with the roommate on the phone about the move.

When Ford arrived at the apartment on July 21st, a physical altercation began, during which, he was stabbed. Ford was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injury. Though the department is not pursuing charges, the case file is being presented to the District Attorney’s office for a final decision.
