The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has posted pictures of a missing girl and her mother on its Facebook page in the effort to help the South Elgin, Illinois Police Department find the pair. Police say the mother of that missing 9-year old believed to be in her custody has known ties to the Athens area. Police say Kayla Unbehaun and her 35-year old mother Heather have been missing since July 4th.
Heather Unbehaun never showed up for a court-ordered exchange with the girl’s father, Ryan Iskerka, who was reportedly granted full custody of Kayla in March. He has set up a go fund me page in an effort to raise money to get the word out about his missing daughter. South Elgin Police say the King County, Illinois State's Attorney's Office has issued a wanted for Heather Unbehaun's arrest. She is facing child abduction charges.
