Suspect Wanted in Connection with Shooting Death in Athens Hotel

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is releasing more information in the case of a woman found dead in a local hotel. According to a news release from the department; the victim has been identified as Casey Devanna. Police say she was killed by a gunshot wound. ACCPD has issued an arrest warrant for the suspected gunman, the victim’s husband Alexander Devanna. He is believed to be driving a red Hyundai Santa Fe, with Florida tag AE2296. Police believe he may be in Florida and that he has contacts in St. Petersburg, Orlando, and Daytona Beach.

On Sunday, August 27th, Casey Devanna was found dead in a room inside the Best Western Hotel on Milledge Avenue. Public Information Officer Epifanio Rodriguez says the couple had only been married for about a month.
