Athens' St. Mary's Hospital Prepared to Accept Patients from Other Cities if Neccesary

St. Mary's

St. Mary’s Healthcare System says all three of its hospitals will remain open and will continue to provide care during Hurricane Irma’s foray into the state. According to a release from Public Relations Manager Mark Ralston, the facility is following the National Weather Service for updates and closely monitoring conditions. Ralston says St. Mary’s has been asked to prepare to accept patients from other hospitals in Irma’s path and will do so if needed. The system has adequate supplies and fuel for backup generators in the case of service interruptions and extended power outages. Ralston says they have detailed plans and procedures for extreme weather events and remain prepared to implement them as necessary.
