Thousands of Athenians Remain Without Power in Wake of Irma

 As of Wednesday morning, many residents of Athens-Clarke county still were without power. According to the Georgia Power website, as of 1 p.m., in Clarke county there are still 155 locations without power and 1,831 customer accounts affected.

 

Athens Banner Herald also reported that businesses on West Broad and the Prince Avenue area were affected by the power outages from Irma. Georgia Power and other local utilities have deployed almost 6,000 linemen across the state to restore power.
