The University of Georgia is now ranked No. 16 among public universities, according to the 2018 US News and World Report. This is the highest ranking that UGA has ever reached. Last year the institution was ranked No. 18.
UGA and the University of Florida are the only two SEC schools to reach the top 20. Georgia Tech, which was ranked No. 7, was the only other school in Georgia, besides UGA, to make the list. This was the second consecutive year that UGA moved up in the public universities rankings.
UGA cites student selectivity, new experiential learning initiatives and an increase in alumni giving, as reasons that the institution moved up in the U.S. News rankings.
