Athens-Clarke Returns to Normal After Irma

Athens-Clarke County Police Department

One week after tropical Storm Irma swept through Athens and North Georgia, things are getting back to normal in the Athens area.

In an effort to receive GEMA and FEMA funds, property owners can expect to see county assessors out and about in the community, conducting preliminary damage assessments on government, nonprofit, and private properties in Clarke County which were affected by Irma.

In addition, leaf and limb collection begins this week in area B. Due the damage caused by Irma, restrictions on individual pile limits and the length of time a pile can be placed at the curb are being suspended for the next six weeks.

Property owners can report damage online at www.athensclarkecounty.com, or by calling 706-613-3330 option 4.
