Clarke County Sheriff's Office Warns of Phone Scam

The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office has recently received reports that someone has been calling and impersonating a deputy. According to a media release from Captain Hayden Hodges, the caller claims to be a deputy with a Sheriff’s Office outside Clarke County who has arrest warrants for the person on the phone. The caller tells victims they need to come to his location to surrender to authorities. The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office warns citizens to be aware of callers impersonating deputies or officers.

If you received a suspicious call, you are asked to contact authorities at 706-613-3250. They warn you should not provide any money or personal information over the phone.
