Deadline for Entries Looming for Film Festival

Time is running out for filmmakers interested in competing for a statewide Film Festival which will be held in Athens.

The third annual Cause and Effect Film Progressive Festival will take place next month at Cine, but interested filmmakers still have until October 15th to submit entries. The festival is open only to Georgia filmmakers in the state. Director Brandon Hannick says the focus is on the topic, not production skills.

“We prefer a film shot on a smart phone that tells a good story, that dives into an important issue and talks about how we can remedy a problem to something that has special effects or super-high production value but doesn’t really dig into an issue."

Hannick says filmmakers are asked to explore political, environmental economic, or social justice issues. The process for submitting a film is easy.

“Filmmakers can go to www.causeandeffectfilm.org. and it’s a very painless process, not only is it free, but it actually just takes you about five minutes. You upload a YouTube link and your contact information and you’re entered.”

Finalists will win cash prizes.
