Citizens' Advisory Committee Chair on TSPLOST Projects

Athens-Clarke County voters are joining others around the state head to the polls during the early voting for municipal and special elections set for November 7th. Tomorrow is the only Saturday available for those taking part in early voting.

Alice Kinman is the Chair of the Citizen Advisory Committee that determined the items to make the list of the TSPLOST 2018 projects.

“The committee is truly community-wide,” Kinman said. “We live in every neighborhood, every corner of the county. It was a truly diverse committee.”

Kinman wants voters to know committee members were diligent in determining the county’s transportation projects on the list.

“The result if a very balanced list of projects that I think reflect local transportation priorities. About half of the money is going to go to traditional transportation projects, what people think of as roads and bridges; and the other half will be dispersed among a variety of alternative modes of transportation including buses, sidewalks, bath paths, bike lanes, trails, all kinds of pedestrian improvements, corridor enhancements. Every project on this list is a transportation project.”

Monday, October 30th is the last week of early voting before the November 7th election. To view the complete list, visit www.tsplostathens.com. Or you can visit www.athensclarkecounty.com.
