The number of Georgians signing up for coverage under the ACA is up according recent estimate, but those signing up may have trouble finding help understanding that coverage.

Open enrollment for the state insurance exchange ends December 5th. The first few weeks saw an uptick in the number of Georgians signing up for coverage under the ACA, but those looking for help in finding the best plan for them have fewer options this year. Harold Webber is a Health Plan Navigator and Outreach Coordinator at Athens Neighborhood Health Center.

“There are many, many people who have a lot of trouble understanding the variations in the policies and then there are many people who (find) the process is just too complex,” according to Webber. “If you’ll just go on to www.healthcare.gov, and click on the button that says find local help, then put in your zip code, the system will list local navigators who can help you.”

Webber says Insure Georgia saw its budget for navigators slashed from $2.3 million to $330,000.

Open enrollment ends December 5th this year.
