Art Decko has announced the artists for the downtown public art project. Nine artists have been selected to design 4x 8 panels to be permanently installed in the College Avenue Parking Deck. The panels will be placed on each level of the deck’s main stairwell.
The project was a collaboration between the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission, the Athens Downtown Development Authority, and the Athens Area Arts Council. Art Decko is a public art project that promotes creativity in unexpected places. It was launched over a decade ago and the first installment featured panels designed by art classes at local schools. Those panels have come to the end of their lifespan.
The nine Georgia painters were chosen from among 100 submissions.
