Athens 2017 Downtown Parade of Lights Route

Athens’ Downtown Parade of Lights is scheduled for Thursday, December 7th at 7 pm. The theme for this year is “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Those entering the event are encouraged to use their imaginations to express the theme. The annual event is sponsored by the ADDA and the Clarke County government. The best floats will receive cash prizes and plaques in different categories. They include Originality, Best Use of Theme, and Best Use of Light. The best overall float will win the Mayor’s Award. The parade starts at the corner of Pulaski Street and Hancock Avenue.

Most streets along the route will close at around 6:30 Thursday night, but the intersection of Hancock and College will close at 2 pm and the portion of Hancock along the assembly area will close at 3 pm.
