Two UGA football players were arrested Saturday night after the Bulldog’s win in the SEC Championship Game.
Juniors Natrez Patrick and Jayson Stanley were pulled over and arrested in Barrow County on Saturday night around 11:50 p.m.
Patrick was charged with possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana. Stanley was charged with speeding and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana.
This is Patrick’s third arrest related to marijuana. The University of Georgia Student Athlete handbook states that players are to be dismissed after their third drug arrest.
On Sunday, UGA head football coach, Kirby Smart, said the player’s discipline would be handled internally. UGA has not yet released a statement regarding the two player’s arrests.
Both Patrick and Stanley started in the SEC Championship game on Saturday night.
UGA is heading to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California to take on the Oklahoma Sooners after the Dawgs defeated the Auburn Tigers in the SEC Championship.
This is the first SEC title for Georgia since 2005 under second-year coach Kirby Smart. The number 6 Bulldogs rebounded from a loss three weeks ago at Auburn with the 28-7 victory in the SEC Championship.
