Kirby Smart Voted SEC Coach of the Year

Twitter

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has been named Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year. Smart, who was named the Associated Press SEC Coach of the Year earlier this week, was also voted by the coaches as the conference’s Coach of the Year.

This is the first honor of this kind for the Bulldogs since Mark Richt earned the accolade in 2005.  Georgia’s head coaches have earned this honor 12 times, including five times by College Football Hall of Famer Vince Dooley.

The third-seeded Bulldogs (12-1) travel to Pasadena, Calif., to face second-seeded Oklahoma (12-1) in the College Football Playoff’s semifinal round in the Rose Bowl on Monday, January 1.  Kickoff is at 5:10 p.m. ET.
