Bring One for the Chipper in Athens

athensclarkecounty.com

If you still need to get rid of your Christmas tree, Keep Athens-Clarke Beautiful is working with the ACC government in sponsoring tree recycling Saturday.

The Bring One for the Chipper event runs from 9 am until 1 pm. Drop-off locations include Cofer’s Home and Garden Showplace, which will be collecting trees all week, Clarke Middle School, Chase Street Elementary School and sandy Creek Nature Center.

Trees also can be taken to recycling centers at the Georgia Square Mall Theater parking lot, Winterville Public Works building, and the Lexington Road Tag Office. The recycling centers are open through Jan. 12 but will not be staffed after the 6th.  Areas to drop off trees will be marked. Those dropping off trees will receive a free seedling.

Undecorated trees in Clarke County can also be left out for leaf and limb disposal. Those wishing to do so will need to check with the county for the pickup schedule. The ACC Landfill is also accepting undecorated trees free of charge.

For more information on tree recycling in Athens, call (706) 613-3501, or visit www.keepathensbeautiful.org.
