Second annual Athens Social Justice Symposium tackles local concerns

The University of Georgia School of Social Work is holding the second annual Athens Social Justice Symposium Saturday. The day-long public event is organized by graduate students and will feature free workshops and panel discussions aimed at creating a more inclusive and prosperous local community.

This year’s topics cover access to financial credit, public transit, affordable housing, mental health services, employment issues, urban resilience planning and immigration reform, among others. The symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship building, 780 Timothy Rd. Athens, Ga 30606. Light refreshments will be served. Attendance is free and open to the public but, due to space limitations, registration is encouraged.
