Veteran Athens journalist Rollin “Pete” McCommons was been recognized for his contributions Friday afternoon. Grady College held the ceremony to introduce the inaugural Rollin “Pete” McCommons Award for Distinguished Community Journalism.
The award named in honor of the Publisher of Flagpole is to recognize professional journalists, students and faculty who produce consequential community journalism. McCommons was the first recipient of the award which was presented by Grady Dean Charles Davis. It will continue as an annual event.
