Athens–area teens looking for help in putting together an outfit for this year’s prom are invited to attend the first-ever ‘Bling Your Prom’ event hosted by the Athens Library. Starting at 10 am tomorrow morning and lasting until 2 pm, teens can pick out a free dress or suit, plus shoes and accessories, to wear to prom. Public Information Officer Rhiannon Eades says it’s possible due to donations from the community.
“We’ve gotten great support from different groups in town like the Athens-Tech Cosmetology program, Circle Ensemble Theater Company, some great help from UGA sororities who are coming to volunteer that day, the Junior League of Athens has helped us out, Professional Care Dry Cleaning, I’m probably missing a lot of people,” Eades said.” “We’ve been very pleased with the response.”
This event is open to teens in Clarke, Oconee, Madison, Franklin, and Oglethorpe counties, currently enrolled in high school who are preparing for Prom. All items are available on a first come, first served basis.
