The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is hosting its first Mayoral Forum Monday evening.
Organizers say the forum is being held to discuss community issues including poverty, quality of life and community inclusion, as well as the future of Athens.
According to AADM president and co-founder Mokah Jasmine Johnson, all three of the qualifying candidates for mayor, Harry Sims, Kelly Girtz, and Richie Knight, have committed to taking part in the forum.
“We’re having a mayoral forum and we want for the general public, everyone to come and have an opportunity to ask questions and get some answers and get a feel for who their next mayor might be,” according to Johnson. “We want to definitely tackle some of the tougher issues.”
The forum takes place at the Athens-Clarke County Library, it begins at 6 pm. It is free to attend and the community is invited. Audience members will have a chance to interact with the candidates.
