"The Georgia Peach Quilt" Exhibition and Discussion on Gun Violence at Athens Library

Members of the community are invited to attend an exhibit and discussion honoring those affected by gun violence. Shannon Lawhon, a founding member of Athens Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is presenting a slide talk Wednesday evening at the Athens Library.  It’s in conjunction with a reception for the opening of “The Georgia Peach Quilt.”

Participants, including survivors of gun violence, made squares in honor of loved ones killed by gunfire. Three quilting bees in Athens, Atlanta, and Savannah were held to collect the squares. The talk is Wednesday at 7 pm.

The quilt will be displayed in the library’s Quiet Gallery through May 31st. It is a part of the Mother’s Dream Quilt project. The event is free and open to the public.
