The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating a shooting of a man at the “Park at Athens” apartment complex. The victim was shot in the torso while sitting inside his vehicle. He was able to drive to the intersection of Milledge Avenue and Riverbend Road for help. Police spokesperson Epifanio Rodriguez says they are still gathering information regarding the incident.
“When our officer arrived on scene they located a black male in his mid-30’s who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso and was in and out of consciousness, Rodriguez said. “Our officers were able to speak to him for a little bit and got his name. We are not releasing his name right now because he is not from this area and we’re having some difficulties in locating his next of kin. We have very little on the suspect, what we have right now is we believe him to be a black male who was wearing a mask.”
