The Athens-Clarke County Commission is reviewing the FY 2019 budget at the Governmental building on Dougherty Street at 5:30 Thursday evening. Mayor Nancy Denson released the measure on April 30th. Under the plan, the current millage rate of 13.95 remains unchanged.
Among items being considered this year, $2.5 million to implement a pay study. Other changes include a $300,000 increase for the Sheriff’s Office for inmate medical services, $250,000 for the Police Residence Program, and $135,000 for a new Affordable Housing Fund.
A second review is planned for Monday, May 14th and a public hearing on the plan is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15th at City Hall at 6 pm.
The $241.5-million-dollar plan is just over $6 million more than the FY 2018 budget.
